Further update on Summer Term 2019 at Virgo Fidelis.
As you are aware, Virgo Fidelis is in the process of relocating. However, with the examination season fast approaching, the Governing Board has taken the decision to remain at the current location (Central Hill, Upper Norwood) for the Summer 2019 Term.
Acting on the feedback from parents regarding the stress the move potentially causing their daughters, the Governing Board decided that this was the best option in the short term.
The health and safety of pupils and staff at the school is the utmost importance to the Governing Board, the local authority and the Diocese. At the request of Croydon Council, the London Fire Brigade have been to access the buildings, along with council health and safety officers, to verify the Governing Board's decision to remain on site for the summer term.
On the recommendations of these organisations, the school's leaders have implemented a robust system of checks and safety processes which include weekly fire drills. Your daughter may have mentioned these to you. The council will be monitoring these fire safety processes and carrying out spot checks during the summer term. However, the London Fire Brigade have judged that major remedial works must be undertaken in six month, with the pupils educated elsewhere after July 2019.
Please note that the dates and the times as stated in a previous communication will remain in place:
Wednesday 3 April 12.45 school will finish.
Thursday 4 April 12.00 term ends.
Friday 5 April School will be closed for pupils.
Friday 26 April 08.20am new term begins at Virgo Fidelis (current school times will apply for the summer term)
