As a
result of this we have been able to increase our resources across the
school, especially in the Mathematics and ICT areas. In addition, we
have received a grant of £4.7 million for a Creative Learning Centre
which will include a new eco-friendly block complete with wind turbine
and will house suites for Mathematics, ICT, Business Studies,
Accountancy, Media Studies, Hospitality, Beauty and Hairdressing. The
current Sixth Form facilities will also be greatly enhanced.
The
Catholic ethos of Virgo Fidelis strongly influences and enhances the way
in which the educational objective of the school is realised. Students
are encouraged to value their own freedom and consequently the
responsible use of it. Equally, respect for the individuality of others
is cultivated through insistence on courtesy and consideration towards
everyone. The collaboration of parents is recognised by the Headteacher
and Staff as vital in their task of guiding students to become
confident, mature adults.
We
are also deeply appreciative of the large amount of time and work the
Governors devote to the School. The strategic direction they offer and
vast depth of experience they bring are invaluable and we are very
pleased that this was recognised in our OfSTED Report.
The contribution made to the
life of the School by its Sixth Form Prefects both in the social and
academic spheres is significant. We have a thriving and rapidly
expanding Sixth Form providing students with a supportive and well
disciplined environment in which they can focus on their studies.
Through the excellent standards which they have already achieved, they
act as role models for the younger students.
There
are wide ranging opportunities for extra curricular activities such as
sports, debating and work experience which enrich our students’ lives.
The courses offered are demanding. We believe that we have high
standards and expectations and that success can only be attained through
hard work.
We
offer an outstanding teacher/student ratio that enhances the positive
attitudes and excellent working relationships throughout the school,
thus allowing the pastoral and academic needs of each student to be
carefully considered and caringly monitored. Our highly professional
staff are dedicated to ensuring that each student achieves her full
potential. The majority of our students go on to higher education.
We
look forward to working in partnership with you and to enabling your
daughter to achieve excellence.
May
God bless you all
