PRAYER FOR WOMEN TO MARK WORLD PRAYER DAY – 6 March,  2020

Dear Lord,

Our Heavenly Father from whom all blessings flow, we thank you for this day that you have made.  We especially thank you for the lives of women all over the world; daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, Aunties, Grandparents and friends alike.  We honour you for the grace and insight you have blessed women with, for the perseverance to tolerate difficult times and tenacity, to work through adversities.

Thank you for the emerging empowerment of women in our societies.  We pray for the boldness to wear different hats at different times and to make meaningful contributions to different people, in different sectors and nations, worldwide.

We ask that we will continue to be virtuous women and that our mark shall be left in the sands of time.  We pray for your wisdom, knowledge and understanding today and also ask for your strength, mercy and grace upon our lives (amen).  Let us be living testimonies of you, and through us, let people come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ Your Son and in whose name we pray

AMEN

This prayer has been written by Head Girl Lorraine Adisa, to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer

Remembrance Day

Every year Virgo Fidelis Convent Senior School marks Armistice Day by attending the ceremony at Streatham Cenotaph.

In 2018, 100 years after WW1 ended, Mrs Meyer laid our wreath in front of more than 600 local people, Youth Cadets, MP Chuka Umunna and 60 community groups to honour all those who fight and die in wars so that we can live in peace. A Shiite Muslim Imam from Hyderi Mosque in Estreham Road led the service, which focused on our shared values of justice, peace and reconciliation.

Virgo Fidelis pupils Elizabeth and Esther meet Chuka Umunna at the Remembrance Day service. Mr Umunna is a columnist for The Independent, lawyer and a British politician. He was the MP for Streatham from 2010 to 2019
