Sixth Form Curriculum

Choosing the right Sixth Form requires a great deal of thought and research.

The most important considerations are your own personal interests and academic aptitudes coupled with your career ambitions. 

The type of person you are and your attitude to life plays an important part in our choosing you for the Sixth Form.

Our prospectus will provide you with much pertinent information but I do urge you to come to meet with us if you are still requiring a place.  Our Office is open throughout the Summer Holidays.  In term time you are welcome to visit us any Monday from 9am to 10.30am. CURRICULUM PATHWAY

In order to be considered for a place in the Sixth Form, all candidates must meet the minimum level of attainment at GCSE for the pathway they propose to follow. This is as follows:

 

 3 A Levels

This curriculum choice requires: 8 GCSEs including Maths at Grade 4 or above, English Language or Literature at Grade 5 or above, another 3 or more subjects at Grade 6 and above and a further 2 subjects at Grade 4. Candidates must meet the subject specific requirements in order to study their chosen subjects. Candidates must meet the subject specific requirements in order to study their chosen subjects. The Extended Project Qualification will be available to candidates following this pathway.

 

A Mixed Pathway

This curriculum choice requires: 8 GCSEs including Maths at Grade 4 or above, English Language or Literature at Grade 4 or above, and a further 6 or more subjects at Grade 4 or above.

This pathway will involve at least one vocational course which can be single or double with either one vocational subject or one or two A-levels (total of 3 awards).

Candidates must meet the subject specific requirements in order to study their chosen subjects.

 

 A Vocational Pathway

This curriculum choice requires: 8 GCSEs including Maths at Grade 4 or above, English Language or Literature at Grade 4 or above.

This pathway will involve at least two vocational courses which can be single or double up to a total of 3 awards.

Students will sit internal examinations in the summer of year 12 and will have been assessed throughout the course. If the school feels that the student is not succeeding then an alternative course will have to be follow.
