Prospective students will require A–C grades at GCSE in Maths and English with good communication skills. However, an interest in Childcare is essential.
Students must achieve Units 1 and 2 to complete the Award
Students must achieve Units 1-8 to complete the Certificate.
Students have to complete approx 365 practical hours at a nursery placement.
Students must achieve Units 9-15.
Students also have to complete approx 540 practical hours at a nursery placement.

The course will be holistically delivered and assessment will be structured around the following units
Award: Units 1-2
Certificate: Units 1-8
Diploma: Units 9-15
Duration: 2 years
Units are externally set and internally marked by a tutor graded D-A*.
The externally marked assessments are;
- Effective Practice Study for units 1-7 and
- Extended Assessment for units 9-14.
Students will be graded D to A*.
On successful completion of the Diploma students will be able to apply for entry into Higher Education.
The Diploma also gives a license to practice for employment purposes.
Learners’ will be able to enter the workforce as
- Early Years Educators and Management in a Nursery setting.
Other related employment opportunities include,
- Children’s nursing
- General Nursing
- Midwifery and Teaching.
