Spiritual Life at Virgo Fidelis
Pastoral Care and the Tutorial System
We offer a high level of support to our students, not just to ensure that the transition from Year 11 to Sixth Form is as smooth as possible but to provide a friendly and purposeful atmosphere in which each student will thrive.
All students are assigned to a Form Tutor who is responsible for a group of approximately twenty students. The students meet with their Form Tutor on a regular basis, once a week as a Form and individually in pre-arranged tutorials several times a term. The Form Tutor is there to monitor each student’s general progress and also to help with any problems or concerns, both academic and pastoral.
The weekly Sixth Form assembly brings students and staff together as a community. A great deal of information is imparted on these occasions and frequently guests are invited to come along to speak to the students on a range of topical subjects.
At Virgo Fidelis, we have a firmly established system of electing the Head Girls and Deputies at the end of each academic year. This takes place in the final term of Year 12 and the Head Girls remain in office for one year. We expect these students to co-ordinate the activities of the School Council and to represent the school in meetings and at various events.
Our staff-student relations are excellent and student views are welcomed via the Student Council which comprises the Head Girls and representatives from each Year Group. Meetings are held on a regular basis and its main purpose is to provide an effective channel for communication between students and staff.
