Sixth Form Enrichment Programme

All Sixth Form students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of enrichment activities. The programme varies from one year to the next as students frequently take the initiative to organise events based on their own interests.  The following are some of the areas that remain popular throughout.

Business Enterprise

Students work as a team to establish and run a small business with the aim of making a profit. They cover all aspects of business management.

Choir

Students have the chance to sing a variety of music within the choir. Although no previous experience is necessary, students need to have an interest in singing and be willing to show commitment to the group. The choir performs several times a year at school events.

Christian Group

Discussion, reflection and prayer based on the themes of the Bible by the students for the students.

Community Service

This is open to any student wishing to help in the community and involves such activities as helping in a local nursery or primary school, hospital visiting and many others. We work closely with CValive (formerly Croydon Millennium Volunteers). There are also opportunities to help within Virgo Fidelis itself, for example, working on literacy mentoring with younger pupils.

Creative Writing: Creating the Modern

Students explore and then write in a modern/post-modern context.  They are encouraged to unleash their creative potential and broaden their knowledge of artistic and literary ideas at the same time.  By doing so, they find out where exactly they stand in the cultural heritage of the modern era and discover what exactly their writing ‘represents’.

Debating Society

This provides students with the opportunity to take part in school debates on various topics and to participate in inter-school debates. Through debating students improve their general knowledge and communication skills whilst developing their confidence and self-esteem.

Interact

This is the junior branch of Rotary. Students meet, fundraise for charity, help with the Rotary Christmas party for senior citizens and have visiting speakers. There may be opportunities for links and visits with other Interact clubs.

Sport

Students will take part in a range of activities, both individually and as part of a team. This is a chance to explore a wider variety of sporting activities than they may have previously encountered.
